Dr Michelle Perugini to present benefits of Artificial Intelligence to society at Hybrid World Adelaide
Dr Michelle Perugini will be presenting the benefits of Artificial Intelligence to society at Hybrid World Adelaide, the new technology festival for South Australia. Dr Perugini is co-founder at AI tech companies Presagen and Life Whisperer, and was formerly a co-founder of ISD Analytics which was acquired by EY in 2015.
Dr Perugini will be joined on a panel with two US-based counterparts, Phillip Alvelda from DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), and Mr Robert Tercek who is an author, digital pioneer, and one of the world’s most prolific creators of interactive content.
The title of Dr Perugini’s presentation is “AI hype and scaremongering may kill the industry before society gets to benefit”, and the panel session following is titled “The moral economy of machine intelligence”.
“There is significant hype around the capability of mainstream AI, and scaremongering about the creation of super-intelligent machines that will take over our jobs and lives. This is reminiscent of the 80s where the $Billion AI industry collapsed.” said Dr Perugini.
“There are many benefits of AI, including better social policy, improved health, creation of a smarter and more creative workforce through automation of mundane tasks, and importantly supplementing an aging population and workforce. “
Dr Perugini will discuss the hype around mainstream AI, and talk about three AI businesses that she has founded and how they have practically applied AI to great benefit.
