Independent multicenter analysis of AI reports objective and faster embryo assessment with Life Whisperer, saving IVF clinics time and cost.

IVF Spain (subsidiary of IVF Life) and their three clinics located in Alicante, San Sebastian and Madrid, presented their recent independent study on the use of Life Whisperer Viability AI technology to evaluate embryos at the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) 2021 Scientific Congress, June 2021.

Life Whisperer Viability uses AI to assess images of embryos to predict their likelihood of leading to a pregnancy, with the aim of improving pregnancy outcomes for IVF patients. In the study, 513 embryo images were provided by three different clinics using the EmbryoScope time-lapse imaging system. Images were evaluated using three different methods to predict pregnancy outcome: manual visual assessment using conventional Gardner grading, the time-lapse imaging AI algorithm Eeva (EV), and the Life Whisperer Viability AI software.

Results showed that Life Whisperer Viability overall was comparable to other methods for embryo selection, but had a superior sensitivity for predicting positive pregnancy outcomes. This study demonstrated generalizability of Life Whisperer Viability to a European demographic, and comparable performance without the need for manual grading or annotation. Therefore Life Whisperer Viability provides a faster, objective method for embryo assessment, ultimately saving IVF clinics time and cost.

Additionally, one of the key advantages of the Life Whisperer Viability software is that it does not require any specific hardware. Life Whisperer Viability has been shown to be camera agnostic and operates with a variety of existing camera systems already used within IVF clinics, including standard microscope-mounted cameras and more advanced time-lapse systems. The implementation of time-lapse methods requires substantial investment in specialized incubator systems, which is not possible for all clinics. Life Whisperer Viability is therefore more scalable, accessible, affordable, and equitable, for IVF clinics and their patients globally.
